These are some images of my new work shadows, which I created for my solo exhibition Parallel 22. The installation consists of wall projections of shadows from different movies. Original movie scenes were edited in such a way that the impression is created that one is not seeing a videoprojection but real shadows. The installation is inconspicuous and almost invisible at first sight. Only once in a while a shadow of a mysterious man with a hat scurries around. The shadow, an important visual element of film noir, is extracted from its original movie and transferred into reality.
On Wednesday the 17th of April 2013 my exhibition Parallel 22 will be opened. I am presenting photos from my sense of locality series, and a film program, featuring several of my videoworks.

Until 20th of August 2012 the live performance The Origin of Pace will be presented at the Noorderzon Performing Arts Festival in Groningen. The Video and Dance performance was made in collaboration with the GAVA archive. Processed images from the GAVA archive are mingled with dance and music. The movement of the human body interplays with the repetitive element of machines. It is all about rhythm, repetition and the passage of time.

My final proposal for an artwork for the city centre of Enschede. My idea is to visualize the outlines of a textile factory with a laser projection.
sketch images as a moodboard for a video + dance performance, a project I am working on together with Eleanor Grootoonk and Francesca Bardaro.
The city of Enschede has started a project about the history of the city centre and invited me to design a concept for an artwork in public space. My idea is to make a light installation on a building where in the past the biggest textile factory of the Netherlands was located. Here are some experiments and results of my first research. My idea is to create a fragile image of the factory which visually reminds of woven fabric.
This is a movement study of three analogical film scenes. Each film scene originally shows a sheet that is shaken up, the outlines of the sheets were traced and overlayed to created this video.

The idea that there are certain images/scenes that appear in all kind of movies fascinated me. At the beginning of this semester I started to create a collection of stills from movies, as basis for a research project on the meaning of this kind of cinematic imagery. To keep record of the collection process, I created another blog: http://analogicalscenes.blogspot.com
